Labour Camp Mental Wellbeing

We have had the privilege of being invited by a company that has 6000+ men, to help the men have better leisure time. At the moment, the men work very hard, eat, sleep and drink alcohol, which makes them irritable & destructive.

We have been asked to help shift their focus off alcohol and provide then with other interests and with some things to look forward to.

Someone has already donated a Basketball Hoop on a 3m pole and balls, this has already been installed in one of the company's remote camps and the men are very happy and excited that they have something to do now. It may appear to be a small thing to you or me, but to men with absolutely nothing to occupy their minds; it has made a big difference in their lives.

I am appealing for donations of Basketball Hoops, dozens of Carom boards, projectors that can play DVD's, we also need dozens of good old/new Hindi movies, to play in the camps at week-ends and mid week.

I am also looking for poets, (Hindi speaking) who would like to donate their time giving readings to the men in a number of different camps. Traditional Indian instrument players who would like to play for the men, and Hindi speaking Drama Groups who will perform comedy skits in the camps.

These are just a few activities we would like to get in place to begin with.

If you can provide or you can connect me with people who can do anything to supply any of the above.
Please call me: my mobile 050 5671 434 ASAP if you can help out.

We took our doctors to one camp at Sonapur last night and they were very well received, they spoke about health and hygiene issues, depression and alcohol dependency. The men had lots of questions after the doctors had finished speaking.
